Looking forward to next year already!
Camaro Nationals has become one of our favorite shows, this was our second year attending and it won't be our last! This year was a special tribute to GMMG cars so "Blue" got the nod to go, he enjoyed spending a rainy weekend in a safe, dry building with his fellow GMMG cars. The staff did a wonderful job and we had such a lovely time with all of our good friends. Looking forward to next year already!

We always look forward to trekking the 13 hour drive to Georgia over Memorial Day weekend every year. The Gathering is more like a family reunion/party where a car show happens to break out. We always have loads of fun and we hope despite somewhat lower attendance that things pick up and G20 becomes a reality for 2016. This year G8s, GTOs and Corvettes were added into the FBody theme and I think it worked out beautifully. Never anything wrong adding to the family!! The weather was great, the company was excellent and that all made for a relaxing extended weekend. Thank you as always to Andy, Sherry, Chad, Fran and Scott for making it such a wonderful time!! Click Here to See Photo Album from the GatheringWe have been so fortunate to attend some wonderful Camaro events over the years but this was the most amazing of all. We had a lovely drive to Detroit in our 2012 ZL1 and were excited to visit GM headquarters. Just seeing so many good friends would have made the trip worthwhile but couple that with the unveil of a brand new Camaro and it was heaven. Chevrolet went all out to take care of the enthusiasts with a parade lap around the track, hot laps in Z/28's, a mini Camaro museum, breakfast, lunch and dinner and lots of cool freebies before the main event. The vibe as we walked up to the stage was electric. Seeing the generations of Camaros slide by on the big screen was nostalgic and heartwarming. It was lovely remembering all the Camaros I've been owned by and what they've meant to me in certain times of my life. There were times they were my only confidence, my only friend, my only joy. Then in time they brought me love, special friendships, travel. The time had come, the room tingled with excitement and the event was underway. The presentation was short but sweet, detailing why these cars are so special. Before I could even catch my breath there it was but wait there were 3!! They pulled onto the stage one by one, refined and beautiful. We walked over to take a closer look with my heart pounding, loving the blue color that I always pine for.....grateful it still feels like the car I have always loved, thrilled my beloved rear quarter panel body line was kept. Then to be able to climb inside, worried it would have changed too much, but then pleased to realize it was all for the better. The design is lovely, the leather soft and supple, the controls modern and updated, the fit very comfortable. Many were hoping for a total overhaul, I for one, am pleased with how it has evolved. So much is brand new, it's comforting to have some similarities. I look forward to slipping behind the wheel and getting a feel for what has changed.....welcome to the family generation 6, I look forward to getting to know you better! We are so excited the reveal of the 6th Gen Camaro is almost upon us! Lots of pictures and updates coming. We head out to Detroit on Friday!Announcing the reveal of the 2016 Camaro in Detroit on Saturday, May 16, 2015 in Detroit – at the Belle Isle, the 982-acre island park that is home to the Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix May 29-31. Andy and I have registered to attend and look forward to seeing all our Camaro friends and sharing lots of photos!
This year's annual visit to Camaro Superfest in Ypsilanti, Michigan included laps on track at Michigan International Speedway and a trip to visit the Lingenfelter Collection. A wonderful weekend of activities for the 4th of July and some time spent with great friends. We kept it to the two 5th gens this year and it was Helios's first trip around the track and into the Winner's Circle. I'd say we saw the biggest turnout of Camaros for this event we've ever seen, more cars at the track and more than 500 cars out on the show field. Looking forward to next year!! Click Here to See the Image Gallery from Superfest 2014We had a wonderful time attending our first Camaro Natonals event in Frederick, Maryland. Lots of beautiful cars to be seen and a special tribute to the Tom Henry edition Camaros. I counted 25 THR cars turning out for this show which is great, sadly none of the 4th gen cars turned up but great showing none the less. Definitely a show I'd like to keep on our list, good times and great friends!! Onto the next... This year we were asked to bring Blue in for the 4th Gen Camaro and we agreed. We hauled him out in the middle of a snow storm on 2/5/2014 and got him all set up. We love the display and are very proud of Blue for representing the 4th gens....at the same time we will be very relieved to get him back home :-) ICC had a great selection of cars and represented Camaro beautifully! My husband and I don't normally attend events that are specific to one generation of Camaro because we love them all. However at the urging of a friend we decided to attend Camaro 5 Fest this year since it was so close to us in Indianapolis. I am sure glad we went!! First off it was another opportunity to see many of our dear friends and second we did want to see the spectacle of that many 5th gens in one place. What we were amazed to finally be witness to is the new culture of Camaro. Sure we were both around for the hayday of the 4th gen (okay and even the 3rd gen to some degree). They had their following but it was nothing like this! You have men and women spanning every age group who just love this car AND they love to modify it and make it their own!! I've seen a lot of Camaro specific shows over the years but this show really opened my eyes to what the 5th gen Camaro has created. The bonus to this are those special folks who get so into it that they do research the history and become a real enthusiast...that is purely awesome!! My heart swells that Camaro not only lives again but dominates! We had a great couple days of watching the CamaroCross and drag racing, wandering vendors, checking out cars and most importantly visiting with all of our Camaro friends. It was great to be able to show my son everything surrounding this, he starts driving in 2 1/2 years and he knows what he wants to drive... Thanks go out to Camaro 5 Fest staff who worked their tushes off to bring this about, to all the GM folks that joined us, to all of our friends that we can't wait to see again soon and to Scott for insisting we be there. Click Here For Camaro 5 Fest Photo AlbumThe Tom Henry show/PACE cruise is an event that we never want to miss!! Made extra special this year with the brand new dealership being finished! What an amazing facility Tom Henry has to bring them into the future. We are so excited for all of them! Plenty of nice cars to peruse but more importantly some wonderful friends to spend quality time with. I spend a lot of time commenting on my Camaro "family" and this is where that phrase really comes to life. Normally after the show at the dealership we cruise out to the Henry/Settlemire family barn to have dinner and relax. This year it was a wee bit too wet out there and since Scott keeps the cars that get stuck no one was game to risk it LOL. So the dinner was moved to the dealership and we all camped out in the service department and had a lovely time. My favorite part of this show is probably the hotel parking lot every evening. Spending time with everyone we wish we could see more often!! Thanks to Tom for squeezing us in with NO notice to have a few things done to the Z, swapping out our side marker lights for smoked LED's and letting us use the wash bay to clean off all of the gathered Mustang crumbs from our drive out! Z is such a messy eater... Thanks to Tom's family for some serious hospitality on Thursday evening, to PACE for arranging the show itself, to Lynda for the cherries (ugh), to Tim for installing a ninja mask on Z in a hotel parking lot (in the dark no less) and finally as always thanks to Scott for more than I can list here. We were so blessed to spend this time with everyone and we love you all!! 'Til next year!!! Click to go to Photo Gallery of Tom Henry 2013 Show |
