For Andrew and I, Camaro is not just a car, it is a way of life. There was very little debate about going when we got word we had been invited, along with 50 other enthusiasts, to see the new 2014 Camaro unveiled....but we had no idea what we were really in for. We headed out to the airport the day before and felt a little disappointed to see pictures of the 2014 being shown on live TV a full 24 hours prior to when we expected to see it live ourselves but we remained excited anyway! We arrived, found our friends and were having a ball. Then the time for the unveil arrived. We watched with excitement until the 2014 emerged, out it comes but wait, it doesn't go on the turn table in the middle! You can hear the buzz begin around the room. Then it all goes dark and the video screen shows us something amazing!! The legendary Z/28 has been reborn. In the moment that badge crosses the screen my heart stops and I can't breathe. Those close to me know what the Z/28 name means to me personally, to have been there to witness it's rebirth was a defining moment in my life. It harkens back to heading to the Chicago Auto Show for a meet and greet in February of 2011 and seeing Al Oppenheiser introduce the ZL1, I remember the tears filling my eyes to see Camaro being the focus of things again. The despair of Camaro going away, the years without it....to watch it rise from the ashes to become such an amazing line again will be something I'll forever be grateful to have seen in my life.
I have uploaded a gallery of my favorite pictures from the event and at the very bottom of this post there is a link to Chevrolet's video of the event and my personal video of the Z/28 announcement.
I must send out my thanks to the Camaro Team for a lovely dinner after the show, for always taking such care to remember their enthusiasts, and of course for bringing us such a source of fun and excitement. Thanks to our awesome friends that we were able to share this event with, Camaro means friend and it has certainly brought us a lovely array of them through the years!
Finally I need to thank Scott Settlemire most of all, there really aren't sufficient words to describe my gratitude, so simply enough....from Andrew and I, we love you dear friend.
